This year, I’ve seen more people waiting until the last minute to plan their vacations. Sadly, this often leads to higher prices, fewer options, or missing out on the hotels and experiences they really wanted.
The best trips usually aren’t booked on a whim. They’re carefully planned, letting you pick where you want to stay, how you want to travel, and the experiences that matter most to you.
That’s why I encourage my clients to think about travel in a new way. Rather than planning just one trip at a time, let’s map out a whole year of travel, tailored to your lifestyle, dreams, and what matters most to you.
Imagine it’s January. Your calendar is already filling with work commitments, family celebrations, school events, and everything else that begs for your attention.
Now picture something different.
Instead of wondering “Where should we go this year?” you’ve already reserved the villa overlooking the Mediterranean you’ve been dreaming about, your safari is on the calendar, and a spring weekend in Napa is waiting for you. Maybe you’ve even planned a holiday escape before the winter rush begins.
These trips didn’t just happen. They came together because you planned your year with intention.
When each trip has a purpose—like celebrating a milestone, reconnecting with family, or just taking time to slow down—your travel becomes much more meaningful than just a list of vacations.
Here’s how you can get started.

Before picking a place, think about how you want to feel on your trip.
Maybe you want to reconnect with family without distractions, celebrate an anniversary somewhere special, try a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, or just wake up each morning with nothing to do but relax on the beach.
When you start with the experience you want, choosing the right destination becomes much easier.
Your travel plans should reflect your own life and priorities, not what you see on someone else’s social media.

Before next year’s calendar fills up, take an hour to map out the dates you already know.
Mark down school breaks, anniversaries, birthdays, long weekends, and important work events. Then, try looking at your calendar in a new way.
Instead of letting your calendar control your travel, make travel a key part of your calendar.
A long weekend could be just right for Charleston or Napa. A ten-day break might finally be the time for that Mediterranean cruise, a trip through Japan, or the African safari you’ve always wanted.
When you plan trips around your existing life, instead of squeezing them into leftover time, you’ll feel less stressed and have more to look forward to.

Instead of asking, “How much should this trip cost?” try asking, “How much do I want to invest in travel this year?”
Thinking about your yearly travel budget gives you more flexibility.
You might choose to splurge on one big bucket-list adventure and add a couple of shorter luxury getaways during the year. Or maybe you’d prefer several shorter trips instead of one long vacation.
This way, I can suggest destinations and experiences that offer great value and still match your priorities.
Luxury travel isn’t about spending more—it’s about spending wisely.

Every place has its ideal time to visit.
Choosing the right destination at the right time often makes the difference between a good vacation and an unforgettable one.

I always suggest my clients pick one or two big trips first. These are the ones that matter most.
Maybe it’s a milestone anniversary, a family vacation where everyone finally gets together, a safari you’ve dreamed of since childhood, or a private yacht trip through the Greek Islands. These special experiences should be planned first.
Booking early provides the greatest selection of accommodations, preferred flight options, and access to special experiences that often disappear quickly.
Once those anchor trips are in place, it’s easy to add last-minute weekend getaways or shorter escapes throughout the year.
This is where working with a travel advisor really helps. Together, we can create a smooth travel calendar, pick the best seasons for each place, and secure hotels and experiences that might not be available to last-minute planners.

Clients who enjoy the smoothest, most memorable trips have one thing in common: they planned with intention. They’re not scrambling for availability or settling for second choices. Instead, they have a calendar full of trips they’re truly excited about.
It’s incredibly rewarding to open your calendar and see trips waiting for you. Each one becomes something to look forward to. Honestly, the anticipation is part of the fun. I call it “hope on my calendar.”
That sense of anticipation becomes part of the journey—and sometimes, it’s the best part.

Whether next year brings one amazing trip or several well-planned getaways, I’d love to help you create a travel calendar that’s as intentional as the life you’ve built.
The sooner we start, the more chances we’ll have to secure the destinations, places to stay, and experiences that make a trip special. I also know that plans can change, so I always prioritize flexibility. If things shift, I’ll work with you to adjust bookings, check cancellation policies, and help you reschedule so your travel stays easy and stress-free.
When January comes, instead of wondering where you’ll go, you’ll already have something wonderful waiting on your calendar.
Start creating a year worth looking forward to. Your future self will thank you.
