I’m not ordinarily drawn to wellness resorts, but when I was invited to check out Miraval Austin, I discovered it was much more than yoga and meditation, offering a wide variety of activities, including culinary and equine therapy classes, so I gladly accepted the invitation! Little did I know this trip wasn’t about my business and how I can help my clients have the best experience there (although that was ironically the result), but about putting me on a path to some much-needed self-care!

The flagship resort in Tucson, Arizona, is a tranquil desert sanctuary surrounded by majestic mountains, perfect for introspection and adventure. It’s a place to find clarity and peace, engage in outdoor activities like rock climbing and horseback riding, and witness the breathtaking desert sunsets that prompt personal reflection. The intense shades of the setting sun and the stirring sounds of nature at dusk serve as a backdrop for profound personal change.

Miraval Austin: A Hill Country Gem

The Austin, Texas, location provides a serene escape nestled within the lush Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, offering a tranquil haven for busy professionals and ideal for those needing respite from their demanding lives. It’s a spot to experience growth and rediscover a rekindled joy for life through engaging activities like a ropes course, creative photography, and equine therapy (or petting a gorgeous chicken), all set against the backdrop of rolling green hills. I even celebrated my birthday the day I arrived, and the chef created a very special dessert in my honor!

The expansive 2-story spa was the largest resort spa I’ve ever seen! With a tranquil pool, bubbling jacuzzi, and plenty of quiet areas to rest and reflect before or after your treatment, the hustle of the world melts away, making it an idyllic haven to either begin your journey into relaxation or gently wrap up your day.

Every staff member (who embrace the title of “colleagues”) — adorns their name badge not only with their moniker but also with a designated “word” that describes their essence (some profound and some playful). Among those that resonated with me were my massage therapist, April, who chose “hope” as her defining term, and the farm manager, Hunter, whose self-identification as a “gatherer,” which made me chuckle. By the conclusion of my sojourn, I too had distilled my essence into a pair of descriptors that felt intrinsically aligned with my own journey: “Clarity” and “Transformed.” What will YOUR word be?

Lastly, the Berkshires, Massachusetts resort is an East Coast haven offering a peaceful retreat in a picturesque setting. This location appeals to those searching for creative inspiration or a tranquil getaway, celebrating the changing seasons and offering a serene pause from the hectic pace of city life. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the calm of nature and rejuvenate their spirit.

Imagine indulging in farm-to-table dining with your closest friends, sharing stories during a scenic hike, or unwinding with a sunset meditation session. With its life-affirming activities, from yoga retreats and hiking trails with random hammocks to culinary workshops, plus a luxurious spa offering heavenly treatments (I indulged in two of them!), there’s a slice of joy for every soul. The beds and spa robes were also the dreamiest and most comfortable I’ve ever experienced!

The room rate Includes: all meals, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and many outdoor adventures, wellness lectures, yoga, fitness, and meditation activities.  Some packages include a nightly resort credit to be used toward spa services, fee-based activities and private sessions with Miraval Specialists.
